Quick Facts

Cross Roads uses a credit hour system that considers three sources of learning: classroom study, ministry projects and research. For example, a typical 3 credit course at the graduate level might include 10 hours of meetings in a cohort group, 10 hours of ministry projects and 40 hours of independent reading. Most courses are scheduled to be completed in seven weeks.

Cohort groups use the seminar and discussion model of learning rather than lectures. Cohort groups will normally meet three times during a seven week period.

Degrees can be completed in 18 to 36 months of part-time study.

The Bachelor of Christian Ministry program requires that the student has completed at least 54 semester hours in general education requirements from another school prior to graduating from Cross Roads.

Master's programs require at least a bachelor's degree prior to entering the program.

Doctoral programs require at least a master's degree prior to enrolling in the program.

Thesis and Dissertation Requirements
Some master's degrees require a thesis and all doctoral degrees require a dissertation. Students are encouraged to identify their thesis or dissertation topic early in their program and work with an advisor to ensure timely completion. The thesis or dissertation should not be deferred until after the completion of the academic work.

Dissertations are expected to make a significant contribution to the church’s understanding of current issues telated to ministry. The dissertation will normally grow out of the student’s ministry project(s).

The Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) degree requires a dissertation that provides significant insight into a theological issue impacting the modern church. The dissertation requires significant research and fact-finding and is more complex than the dissertation requirements for the DCM.

The Doctor of Christian Counseling (DCC) degree requires a dissertation that makes a significant contribution to the church’s understanding of how to counsel people with particular needs. The dissertation requires significant research and fact-finding.

Tuition and Fees
The full tuition cost at Cross Roads Seminary is $20 per academic hour. The total cost for tuition for most programs is less than $5,000. Books average $150 per course.

It is our goal that no one should be turned away due to lack of finances. Students whose household income and net worth are less than $70,000 will receive discounted tuition. Those whose household income and net worth are less than $24,000 pay no tuition.

Cross Roads Seminary is not for everyone. The school is not accredited and our degrees are not transferable to other schools. The seminary is appropriate for students who want to seek God’s will and follow His calling for their life. The school is not appropriate for those who desire academic credentials that will be recognized and transferable to other schools or for seeking secular employment. We have no plans to seek accreditation. The seminary is in the process of registering with the State Council for Higher Education for Virginia as an exempt institution.
